STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

Literally. We were struck by lightning Sunday night. We had had such nice weather all day Sunday, wonderful Spring-y weather. By nighttime we had lightning and thundering. Who knows if it was three or four in the morning but Ryan and I were awoken by a loud booming sound! It was clear, lightning had struck near our home. We heard sirens and went back to sleep.
Monday morning we did our usual routine, turned on the TV and the cable box was not starting. I tried to revive it but it was gone. The Internet was not working. We went about our day, which included no TV and I can truthfully say we had a good time. We survived a morning with NO TV.
Later the heater stopped warming our house.
We slept in a sixty seven degree home and other than the boys being soaking wet in the morning, we slept alright.
Tuesday morning, Ryan arranged somebody to come take a look. They said the circuit board was fried. Then we knew. WE had been struck by lightning. We spent Tuesday at my Mother in Law's home.
Yesterday, I thought about baking to warm up the house a little. I decided to make tortillas instead. Emma made one beautiful hat. She said it was the cutest "tortilla hat" ever.

{When will this smile change? This is all she does now when she sees my camera, or say, stop mom!}

Well, besides having a cold day yesterday, it was a good one. And to make this long story short, our insurance is covering our damage and today, our furnace is being replaced with a new one!

Yay for insurance! But sorry about all the problems! We had similar issues a while ago--a storm got our heater, garage door opener, and one of my little plug-in air fresheners. Kind of random what it affected.

I love the pictures of Emma and her cute ponytail! She is so sweet!

Wow! Well at least you know that lightning won't strike your home twice. It sounds like it was mixed blessing. Getting a new furnace covered by insurance is a sweet thing. Miss you guys, and Emma's sweet face! :)

That is so crazy that your house was struck by lightning!! That is great that your insurance is covering it and that you get a new furnace though. All in all, good deal! Emma is beautiful and such a Jackson!
