Ready, set...
Almost there... I'm excited about this little December Project. It's going to be a great way to start documenting my family's story. I'm so thankful for the importance the church gives to keeping records of our "dealings with the Lord" and our mortal sojourn, our journal is the testimony of our righteous existence. I'm also thankful for Elder Ballard's counsel to use the media to let our testimonies be heard (and read), and let others know that we serve the Lord Jesus Christ (I'm not really quoting here, just writing my impressions).
Family Traditions
I've been thinking about traditions, after enrichment last week I thought I should start our family traditions. I figured Christmas would be a wonderful start. I have decided to document our month. Ryan and I bought a huge Journal/Book/Scrapbook/thing at target when we first got married and thought we would use it as a journal and record a little bit of our lives. It has been 3 years exactly and the book is empty (except for bills and random papers I've "put away"). So, I was thinking about making a little mini book for each Christmas, but, decided to use this big book instead...oh, I just had a thought, it could be our Holiday Book? Our everything book? man! I can't decide now... darn it! What should I do??? I mean, the book is huge!! It could seriously hold lots of Decembers! Lots of them!! or several days of everything. I have to think a little more about this one...
But anyways... I thought it would be neat to look back on these days as the years go by and reminisce... I think it would be a great tradition, don't you?
I better decide this... It starts on Monday... The idea is to do a little journaling and a picture a day, or several if they are that good...and maybe so crafting, you know, paper and ribbon, but I also thought it would be cool to do it digitally and then have it printed...oh man... will I be able to decide by tomorrow????

Emma's 8 month pictures
Today I was finally able to get emma's 8 month old pictures taken. I took them! I was so excited, it was the perfect day, so we went to Minetrista and took a few shots. This is what we got!

Winter Preparations
Here are some cute pictures we took with our new camera. I've been trying to learn how to use it (instead of only using the auto feature) but... it's more complicated than I thought. Hopefully I'll be able to register for Candice Stringham's class at the beginning of January.
We have been thinking and making a list of the things we need to do to prepare for winter, my stash of fabric increased considerably!(one thing covered!) :) I'm making a food storage inventory, we're fixing the gutters and sweeping our chimney! It's exciting but it feels like it will be a long and cold winter. Having been born and raised in Mexico I never had to prepare for winter, it's almost weird having to do that.

This is Emma eating some of that yummy oatmeal momma makes!

Here is a sweet smile.

Messy!

Momma.

Daddy.

So, I said I would post a picture of my pin cushion... not very good, but here it is. I just LOVE my very first pin cushion!!
It's Friday night and I am watching my hubby play Oblivion (a PS3 game that only men understand) and well... it got boring. So, here I am recording today's adventures.
I've been sick. Emma's been sick. Not a whole lot happening for us but, we are picking up my mom at the airport tomorrow! She'll be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with us. I'm excited, I've missed her. I'm planning lots of crafting this month and next. I've never been a crafty person (I know I've said that before, but, believe it, I have never been crafty) but these past weeks I just feel the need to create, to make, and I'm enjoying it a lot! My mom on the other hand, has always been crafty. Well, lets say she's tried a lot of different things. First, I remember her painting and kind of glazing the paints... whatever that was called, then there was macrame furniture and decorations, then sewing (she took several classes and made some pretty dresses and stuff). She also did some photography. And last time she was here, she quilted with me, we made two twin size quilts for my twin nieces. And she mentioned she wanted to scrapbook, I wasn't into it then, but now I am and I think she will be excited to do some of that and sew, sew, sew! I'm thinking baby stuff for now. Emma is my inspiration! And speaking of Emma, she turned 8 months just yesterday and is crawling and getting into everything. Tomorrow when we go to Indy we're buying her a superyard and setting it up in our family room for her to play in. Also, we're hitting my favorite Fabric Store!!! I'm so excited, like a good fabric junkie!
I just LOVE fabric!
So... yesterday I went to Joann to return this book I had bought about 10 days ago and hadn't even opened. Yesterday I did, and I thought it was a little outdated so I thought I would return it. I went to Joann and returned it and looked around for something to spend my newly found treasure (the return money, I mean, I had already spent it, so, no point on putting it back in my bank account! ;))Well, I found some very pretty fabric... weird for joann, I mean nice quality fabric, kind of like what you would find at a quilting store, and I was so excited! I bought some of the pear and apple pattern that is so popular now, you know?...Love it!!! It will make a pretty apron and a bib maybe?
Today was, in general, a good day. I had a great time putting my little Stories In Hand binder together. It has lots of questions or "sparks" as Jessica Called them to help you bring back your memories. I'm actually very excited to work on it and really documenting the story of my life, at least the parts that are worth telling.
I did get my pin cushion done! It is pretty cute... about the pictures... they didn't turn out very good... I will try again tomorrow...
On that line, I can't wait to get my new camera! I told Ryan that that was the only thing I wanted for Christmas, and it is true, that's the only thing I want and I'm so excited 'cause he said yes! So... soon I will be taking lovely pictures! Watch out people! I am though, waiting for a good deal, at least triple points at Best Buy! I think I have decided to get the Nikon D-90. I do think though, that I might be paying a little too much... We shall see I guess.

This time is for real... well...maybe...
So, it's been 15 days since I posted and said I would blog. Well, things didn't go as I had planned (when do they?)... it is actually hard to find the time to do it, harder than I thought anyways... But here I am, and I'm ready.
This week I have been working on several little projects, nothing fancy. See, I've never been the craft type (That's my sister) but ever since I had Emma, there's something about having children that makes you want to create and preserve memories, every moment is too precious to forget it. And so, since I have a child and I'm a stay home mom... I think this is something I should do. Also, I want to share the things I'm making. I'm so into quilting and sewing these days. Oh, and Scrapbooking, but I still haven't decided if I want to do paper or digital, or maybe hybrid? We'll see...
So, I've made a couple of quilts, not this month (or year), but I finally had my quilting machine fixed (or set up correctly anyways) and yesterday I put it on the machine and was all ready to start when I realized I had no thread, how silly is that? No thread! So, I moved on to my pin cushion that I found in one of my quilting magazines, the designer, Heather Bailey, is so good at making pin cushions! They are pretty and easy to make... It's almost finished and I will be uploading some pictures later today, when I sew the ribbon in, and it's all finished.
Also, I'm way excited today to start Stories in Hands at Jessicasprague.com. It should be really fun! It's starts today!
And on that page, the story of today: I'm a little tired this morning... Emma's been sick (a mild ear infection) and we haven't been able to rest very well lately, she woke up at 11pm last night and decided she wanted to play and cry and grunt and scream, therefore...we all had a rough night...hopefully she'll start feeling better today and we're back to our usual schedule... I need Emma's daily naps! Two-one and half hour naps!
Oh, I have so much to do today!! I'm having the Single Adults in our ward come for Family Home Evening, not our family home evening, more like I'm hosting their FHE and I'm supossed to have a clean house and treats on the table... which wouldn't be so hard, had we had a better night... we'll see how it goes.
Anyways... this post got longer than I thought... I guess it's just a matter of starting...
